The Colony is heating up with tons of fun and exciting events taking place this month.

Liberty By the Lake

Celebrate the birth of America’s freedom at the 22nd Annual Liberty by the Lake festival. On Thursday, July 4, enjoy an entire evening of family fun at The Colony Five Star Complex listening to live music, sampling festival foods, shopping local vendors, and participating in an array of family-friendly activities. Don’t miss the fun beginning at 4:00 PM and concluding at 10:00 PM with a spectacular firework finale!

Dive-In Movie Night

As the sun goes down, the movie screen goes up Friday, July 5! Hawaiian Falls presents a screening of Disney’s Moana, from the Wave Pool. Kick back in an inner tube, float the gentle waves, and watch the Hawaiian Princess’ adventure at 6:30 PM. Don’t be surprised if Moana and her Demigod friend make an appearance.

INXS & REM Tribute Doubleheader

Get your tickets now for an awesome doubleheader featuring INTXS, DFW’s best tribute to INXS with special guest What’s the Frequency, a tribute to REM. Rock out at Lava Cantina Friday, July 5 from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

Happy Hour at Urban 8

Come out for a night of food, fun, and networking on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Try delicious food and drinks from any of the eight restaurants inside Urban8 Food Court. Indulge on street tacos, authentic pho, made-to-order sushi, juicy burgers, wood-fired pizza, deli bites, frozen yogurt, and craft cocktails while getting to know the local businesses.

The Soul Shakers – Tribute to Blues

Catch The Soul Shakers at Saintsbury Tavern live Friday, July 12 from 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM! Make plans to get there early and enjoy an extended happy hour before the show! The stage will open up from 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM for some of our musical friends to join the band.

The Spazmatics

The Spazmatics return to Lava Cantina on Friday, July 12. Rock out with the nerds from 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM as they cover tracks from the ‘80s. Arrive early to enjoy delicious Creole Mexican fusion dishes and happy hour pricing from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now.

Take On the Heat Triathlon

Take on the heat for a good cause! Join Playtri DFW Sunday, July 14 at 7:00 AM for this fun triathlon and run-bike-run event at Lewisville ISD Aquatic Center East. All finishers receive a “cool” t-shirt and finisher medal. Proceeds benefit The Colony Firefighter association. Register today!

Latte Art Throw Down 

Watch baristas from across Dallas-Fort Worth compete in the first Latte Art Throw Down at The Shacks at Austin Ranch. On Thursday, July 18, check out original latte art at TURBO – Coffee Kitchen Wine from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. While you are there enjoy a handcrafted cup of coffee, guilt-free light bites, or a glass of featured high-end wine.

Hawaiian Falls Luau

Party it up, the Hawaiian way at Hawaiian Falls Waterpark! Enjoy authentic luau entertainment including traditional Hawaiian music, fire dancers, drummers, and hula dancers on Friday, July 19 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Be sure to arrive early to ride all the attractions, including The Flyin’ Hawaiian speed slide and the Waikiki Wipe Out featuring a 65-foot drop.

Green Day Tribute & Summer Camp

Jam out to this FREE Green Day tribute Sunday, July 28 at Lava Cantina. Green Dazed covers all the punk hits like Boulevard of Broken Dream and Wake Me Up When September Ends. Opening for the band is a talented group of local kids from a punk rock summer camp. The party starts at 2:00 PM, but get there early for the best seats in the house!

Mondays

  • Start the week off with disc golf at Bill Allen Memorial Park, hosted by Chain Bombers. Play begins at 6:00 PM with optional buy-in and professional and amateur divisions.
  • Start the week off on the right track at The Thirsty Growler. BYOV (Bring Your Own Vinyl) or simply enjoy some tunes while sipping on a craft beer from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
  • Test your knowledge at Live Trivia Nite, hosted by Heritage Pizza at 7:00 PM. Enjoy a signature pie or craft pint as you play along to win prizes.

Tuesdays

  • Put your knowledge to the test and win some incredible prizes at Urban8 Food Court. Participate in Pub Poll trivia with friends from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
  • Pick up a Tasting Tuesdays passport at The Shacks at Austin Ranch and sample your way through five unique restaurants. Try everything from tacos, wings, shrimp, craft beer, and more from 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM.
  • Kids eat free on Family Board Game Nite! Simply bring a board game to play at Heritage Pizza and their dinner is on the house from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM.

Wednesdays

  • Relax midweek and sip on a glass of fine wine at Arno Italia. Enjoy half-off pizzas and select wine by the bottle for $30 all day long
  • Mingle and connect with female business leaders at Working Women Wednesday hosted by Growler USA. Make connections while enjoying nightly food and drink specials from their scratch kitchen from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  
  • Grab your gal pals and Stand Up & Paint! Learn to paint step-by-step in the name of charity. No experience necessary, just sign up online to secure your spot at Urban8 Food Court at 6:30 PM!
  • Test your knowledge at Grrrowler’s Tap Room & Beer Garden with Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night at 8:00 PM. While you’re there, be sure to try one of the 25 local and seasonal brews on tap.
  • Listen to your favorite songs at Urban8 Food Court during Singo, the musical bingo. Don’t miss your chance to win awesome prizes from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.

Thursdays

  • Enjoy the happiest of hours at The Thirsty Growler. Specials include: $3-glass, $5-32 oz. growler fill, or $8-64 oz. growler fill of featured brews from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM.
  • Get out on the water any Thursday night with Sunset Paddle Tours hosted by DFW Surf at Hidden Cove Park. Enjoy a guided tour, sunset views, and plenty of photo ops beginning at 7:00 PM.
  • Sing your heart out at Karaoke Night every Thursday at Urban8 Food Court. Bring your friends and take the stage from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

Fridays

  • Be a part of the show, request your favorite songs, and sing along at Urban8 Food Court. Catch dueling piano performances from 9:30 PM – 12:30 AM. While you are there grab drinks and late night bites from any of their eight restaurants.
  • Support local musicians and experience Shacks Soundtracks at The Shacks at Austin Ranch. Enjoy delicious food from six restaurants and live performances from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
  • Find adventure and the best sunsets in North Texas at Paddle & A Pint hosted by DFW Surf. The guided tour begins at Hidden Cove Park at 7:30 PM and ends with a glow party on the water. 
  • Kick off your weekend with Friday Nights at Shakertins. The party goes all night long with DJ Rick Alva spinning tracks from 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM.

Saturdays

  • Catch a FREE movie screening at Lava Cantina during their Kid’s Movie Saturdays series. Enjoy a family-friendly film complete with arts and crafts for the kids, as well as lunch options for the whole family.
  • Meet up with friends for Indoor Open Play at Blue Sky Sports Center. For only $5 per player, practice your soccer skills from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

  • Feel transported to the tropical shores of Havana at The Latin Pig with Cuban music and dancing every Saturday from 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM.

Sundays

  • Get out on the water any Sunday night with Sunset Paddle Tours hosted by DFW Surf at Hidden Cove Park. Enjoy a guided tour, sunset views, and plenty of photo ops beginning at 7:00 PM.
  • Unwind every Sunday with a jazz brunch at Lava Cantina. Enjoy the Bloody Mary bar, bottomless mimosas, and brunch menu offerings beginning at 10:00 AM, with music from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
