Hawaiian Waters
Hawaiian Waters is a summer staple in The Colony, combining exhilarating water slides, a family wave pool, lazy river and attractions for all ages. Thrill-seekers love the 65-foot-high Waikiki Wipeout body slide, fast-moving Bonsai Pipeline and Hawaiian Halfpipe. Spend the day at the waterpark and take advantage of amenities like convenient picnic tables, restaurants and private cabana rentals. Don’t forget to check out their one-of-a-kind special events, such as Dive-In Movie Night and Bow Wow Luau. Parking is always free, and a cooler ticket is available, permitting outside food and drinks.
Lewisville Lake
The Colony boasts over 23 miles of shoreline along Lewisville Lake, the official “Urban Bass Fishing Capital of Texas.” Fishing, boating, wakeboarding and stand-up paddleboarding are popular activities on the water. Various watercraft rentals are available at The Colony’s lakeside parks and The Colony Public Library offers a free fishing rod and tackle loaner program. Miles of shoreline trails offer picturesque views for those who prefer to enjoy the lake from a distance.
Lakeside Parks
The Colony has two convenient parks where you can launch your boat, cast a line or relax near the water.
Stewart Creek Park is perfect for a day at the lake with amenities such as picnic tables, barbeque grills, boat ramp and restrooms. To keep active, the park features a large playground, basketball court, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball, kayak rentals, dedicated fishing pier and tent camping spaces. The park is also home to many special events, including Family Fright Fest and 5K races.
Hidden Cove Park and Marina offers a variety of conveniences, from a boat ramp and sandy beach to a full-service marina and watercraft rentals ranging from pontoons to ski boats. DFW Surf provides stand-up paddleboard and kayak rentals along with wake surfing and fitness classes. For those new to lake sports, they offer instructional classes and guided tours.
Top Tip: For a comfortable overnight stay at Lewisville Lake, reserve a furnished, climate-controlled cabin or bunkhouse at Hidden Cove.
The Colony Aquatic Park
Summer is the best time to take advantage of everything The Colony Aquatic Park offers. The municipal facility is perfect for family members of any age. Children and teens enjoy the Outdoor Leisure Lagoon and shade-covered Wading Pool. Parents love the Indoor Pool, where children and adults can swim laps, take lessons or participate in exercise classes. The Aquatic Park even offers an interactive Splash Zone for preschoolers.
LISD Eastside Aquatics Center
The Olympic-size pool at the LISD Eastside Aquatic Center is home to the annual Luck of the Irish triathlon and the perfect setting for lap swimming, diving and summer swim lessons. The facility is available for event rentals such as birthdays and other celebrations. Take advantage of their punch passes for discounted admission on multiple visits.
Kids’ Colony Splash Park & Outdoor Fitness
The splash pad at Kids’ Colony Splash Park is a popular option for keeping the little ones cool while enjoying the large playground. The free park features plenty of seating and is conveniently located within walking distance of The Colony Recreation Center, an outdoor basketball court and Wheel Zone Skate Park.
