2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year in The Colony, packed with must see events for all ages. From seasonal festivals and community parades to thrilling concerts and unique activities, there’s something to make your stay more memorable. After all, The Colony is “where you go to play!”

Sweetheart Ball @ Stewart Creek Ballroom

“Are you ready for it?” The Sweetheart Ball, hosted by The Colony Parks and Recreation Department, returns for its 19th year on Saturday, February 15, at the new Stewart Creek Ballroom and this time, it is entering its Swifty Era. This cherished event welcomes father figures and their daughters (ages 3-12) for an unforgettable evening filled with dancing, sparkling tiaras and light refreshments. Guests can choose between two dance times at 5:00 PM or 7:00 PM.

Luck of the Irish Triathlon @ LISD Aquatic Center

The Playtri Luck of the Irish Triathlon is back at the LISD Aquatic Center on Sunday, March 16, for a day filled with excitement and competition. Participants will swim, bike and run through the City of The Colony, earning a medal upon completion. Friends and family are invited to come out and cheer on athletes as they race through the course!

Movies in the Park @ The Athletic Club

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets as Movies in the Park returns!  The 2025 season kicks off on March 28 with “The Wild Robot” (gates open at 6:45 PM/movie starts at 8:00 PM).  On April 4, roll out with “Transformers One” (gates open at 7:00 PM/movie starts at 8:00 PM). Check back as additional details are released for October 3 and October 24 movie showings.

Mother & Son Adventure Day @ Fritz’s Adventure

Moms and sons, gear up for an unforgettable day of thrills at Fritz’s Adventure Park with the Mother & Son Adventure Day on Saturday, April 5! Explore a multi-story ropes course, climb the city wall and enjoy countless adventures. This event welcomes mothers, grandmothers, aunts, guardians and other motherly figures, along with their sons. Open to ages 5 and up, it’s a perfect way to create lasting memories together!

Coach Cox’s Kids Race by the Lake @ Stewart Creek Park

The annual Coach Cox’s Kids Race by the Lake returns on Saturday, April 12. Children ages 9 and under will compete in a half-mile race, while children ages 10-12 run a one-mile course along the shores of beautiful Lewisville Lake at Stewart Creek Park. All participants will receive a ribbon and goody bag.

Spring Eggstravaganza @ The Athletic Club

The most EGGciting event in The Colony returns to The Athletic Club on Thursday, April 17! Come out to the Spring Eggstravaganza and watch your kids enjoy the thrill of gathering eggs filled with candy and prizes. Peter Rabbit will be hopping into town too—don’t miss your chance to snap a photo with him and make a fun Easter-themed craft. Be sure to check out the entertainment zone, where you can race down giant slides, tackle the obstacle course, play oversized lawn games and visit the animals in the petting zoo.

Up, Up & Away! Festival of Flight @ Prestwick Elementary

The Up, Up & Away! Festival of Flight lifts off for another year of entertainment in the sky on Saturday, May 3. Bring the family out to Prestwick Elementary from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM for interactive activities such as kite flying and demonstrations, music, birding demonstrations and paper airplane making. There will also be giveaways, rides, food trucks and more!

Summer Kickoff @ City Hall Annex

Celebrate the start of summer at the Summer Kickoff! Stop by and connect with The Colony Public Library and several other city departments at the City Hall Annex on Saturday, May 31. This FREE, family-friendly event will feature summer reading sign-ups, games, crafts, activities, tasty treats and tons of entertaining photo ops.

Liberty by the Lake @ The Athletic Club

Celebrate America’s independence at the annual Liberty By The Lake festival on Friday, July 4! Start the day with the Liberty 5K/10K/1M Race at Stewart Creek Park, followed by the patriotic Independence Day Parade along Blair Oaks Drive. In the evening, head to The Athletic Club for live music, delicious food trucks, thrilling rides and an unforgettable fireworks display. It’s a day packed with free patriotic fun for the whole family!

Bow Wow Luau @ Hawaiian Waters

Make a splash with your furry friend at the Bow Wow Luau in September at Hawaiian Waters Waterpark in The Colony. From 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, enjoy doggie swims, contests, games and prizes. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit The Colony Animal Shelter Injured Animal Fund.

Family Fright Fest @ Stewart Creek Park

Experience Halloween fun at Family Fright Fest on Saturday, October 18 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Enjoy hayrides, games, trick-or-treating, crafts and more at Stewart Creek Park. Get into the spooky spirit with a costume contest featuring categories for all ages along with free activities for everyone. Food trucks will also be available for tasty treats.

American Heroes @ The Athletic Club

Come on out on Saturday, November 8 for the annual American Heroes: A Salute to Veterans & First Responders festival at The Athletic Club. This event honors veterans and first responders with exciting activities for the whole family, including carnival rides, games, a spectacular concert series, delicious food trucks, an awe-inspiring drone show and more. Celebrate and pay tribute at this unforgettable event that honors our heroes!

Christmas in The Colony

Celebrate the magic of the season in The Colony at Holiday in the Park and the Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 6! Watch radiantly themed floats light up the night as they make their way to Perryman Park, where you can enjoy festive activities like music, games, rides and more. Plus, don’t miss the dazzling Christmas Spectacular at The Colony Central Fire Station, featuring a synchronized light show set to holiday hits, with showings available nightly throughout the holiday season.
