North Texas has a new culinary mecca. Foodies are flocking to The Colony to try some of the hottest cuisines in the region. Discover more about the diverse mix of restaurants and culinary experiences in The Colony.
Texas BBQ

When in Texas, do what the Texans do – eat barbecue. Hard Eight BBQ is a local favorite that serves up brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and other ‘cue straight from the pit. The local chain has received national attention after it was featured on Cooking TV’s Man Fire Food. Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse takes traditional BBQ up a notch, infusing new culinary techniques with classic cooking to achieve the perfect smokehouse flavor. In addition to their succulent meats, Barrel & Bones features one of the best whiskey selections in the whole state.
True Tex-Mex

Texas is known for many things, including its deep-rooted love for Mexican food. The Tex-Mex take on classics is prevalent at OMG Tacos, one of six restaurants known as The Shacks. Street tacos, tortas, and burritos can be customized with any topping imaginable, from queso to guacamole and even Hot Cheetos. Angelina’s Don Francisco’s Mexican Restaurant serves up traditional Mexican cuisine along with Tex-Mex favorites, including fajitas, enchiladas, chile relanos, and multiple especiales del mar (signature seafood dishes). If you simply can’t choose between Tex-Mex or traditional, check out Calles de Mexico. This new taqueria is proud to serve tacos Tex or Mex style, in addition to classics like chilaquiles and pozole.
Italian Favorites

You can’t go wrong with a good slice of pizza or a juicy meatball on a bed of al dente spaghetti. Heritage Pizza is a crowd-pleaser with gourmet pies, craft brews for parents, and free dinner for kids on Tuesdays. Popular pies include The Bee’s Knees with spicy soppressata and a drizzle of sweet Texas honey, and The Ballpark loaded with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and beef. The Colony takes food seriously, even into the late night hours. Local favorite Drunken Donkey is a craft bar and scratch kitchen specializing in rare selections of craft beer. Late night bites don’t get much better than mouthwatering Oskar Blues Old Chub queso, Lakewood Temptress pot roast, and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter French toast. Look no further for a seasonal hot-spot right on the water. The Rackhouse features a sprawling patio overlooking Lewisville Lake. Their latest menu offers fried pickles, smash burgers, spicy cajun wings and a chicken fried steak dinner, all of which pair perfectly with an ice-cold beer or flight of whiskey and amazing lake views.
Creole & Cajun
