Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

Rocking chords resound at Lava Cantina as the beloved concert venue and restaurant hosts a Grand Reopening May 4. The return of live music offers a new experience at Lava Cantina, from a revamped Creole-Mexican menu and interior renovations to new performers and interactive entertainment. On May 5, legendary rapper Nelly kicks off the Cinceaux de Mayeaux party at 7:00 PM for a night to remember.

Starting May 1 through May 5, enjoy Cinco Days of Cinco at Truck Yard in The Colony. The five-day fiesta features daily special events ranging from Chihuahua races and dunk tanks to taco and drink specials. Enjoy this smashing celebration with adult piñatas and yard games on Cinco de Mayo.

Party on the patio with the 2nd Annual Cinco De Mayo celebration at Lakeview by Peppersmash. With the scenic views in the distance, live music in the air and $2 tacos all day long, family and friends are sure to enjoy. While there, check out their Instagrammable drink specials and creamy cajeta ice cream.

The breezy and bright days ahead bring back the sixth annual Up, Up & Away Festival of Flight. Join in the fun with kite flying, carnival rides, a bird exhibit and family-friendly entertainment on May 8. Celebrate all things flight at the outdoor festival hosted by the City of The Colony and The Tribute Community.

Immortalize your pawesome four-legged pals on canvas with Paint your Pet at Grrrowler’s Tap Rooms & Beer Garden. Turn your pooch or purrfect pal into a pop art masterpiece on May 20 starting at 6:30 PM. The beer garden offers 26 taps featuring seasonal and local brews to complete your painting party.

New Adventures this Spring

With warmer weather in North Texas, now is the perfect time to get out on the waters of Lewisville Lake. Rent a WaveRunner or ski boat at Hidden Cove Park & Marina for a full day of fun. Venture the waters with one of DFW Surf’s  stand up paddleboard classes or events. For those new to paddleboarding, take an Intro to SUP course, offered every Saturday beginning May 29. If you’re already a paddleboard pro, enjoy a weekly guided tour starting May 21. Explore the lake during this sunset paddle, complete with illumined boards and craft beers at the Paddle and a Pint social.

Say aloha as Hawaiian Falls opens its tropical paradise on May 22. During the offseason, the waterpark underwent a massive renovation resulting in updated rides and new amenities.   • At Hidden Cove Park & Marina, take in the serenity nature as you join others in the Bike To Yoga event Sundays from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM.
