Before heading to the sandy swim beach, set up camp or reserve a pavilion for a picnic. On the northern end of the city, Hidden Cove Park and Marina offers plenty of family-friendly park amenities in addition to their marina. Please note both parks require an admission fee to enter.

The cityโ€™s lake trails are composed of eco-friendly stamped concrete and decomposed granite surfaces for the perfect outdoor trek. The Colony Shoreline Trail spans over three miles with waterfront views at nearly every turn. Traverse The Tribute Shoreline Trail for an intimate look at the regionโ€™s native flora and fauna. Both trails offer free designated parking at respective trailheads. Similarly, Hidden Coveโ€™s inner-peninsula trail features a large tree canopy that creates a protected Wildlife Habitat area.

Grab a kayak with Stewart Creek Parkโ€™s water sports rental program. The self-service station allows online reservations year-round. At Hidden Cove Park, DFW Surf’s weekly stand up paddleboard classes and guided tours are a summer favorite. For motor-powered fun, check out Hidden Cove Marina. The ship store offers pontoon, ski boat and party boat rentals perfect for skiing, swimming, fishing or just cruising the lake.

Lewisville Lake is a natural habitat for animals below the water and along its shores. Fishermen of all skill levels can cast a line from Stewart Creek Parkโ€™s covered pier, reeling in an abundance of catfish and bass varieties. If you arenโ€™t packing gear for a day at the lake, The Colony Public Library has you covered with fishing pole and tackle rental. Fishing is not the only pastime enjoyed by nature lovers. Nearly 300 species of birds can be found near the lake, including some rare sightings. Scope out countless smaller species and birds of prey, ranging from the red-tailed hawk to northern harrier raptor.
